i can't see a promise anywhere in this statement. i can't see promises in other statements like "be your own valentine" or "exercise your heart today" either.

my new glasses came in the mail today! i ordered them from eyefly.com and i am in love with them! i suppose one could say that they are hipster glasses, but they do indeed have a prescription so i don't think that counts. i ordered them in eggplant too and they are coming tomorrow. merry early christmas to me!

so everyone uses gmail these days. i have a gmail account but i really just use it for reader and occasionally g chat. the email that i currently use is a netscape email. i know, right? i have had that email since i was like 14. a few years ago it was taken over by aol so i guess it's an aol account now.

the main reason why i haven't fully switched over to gmail is because it has been ugly. but since they changed their look it is all cool now and i like it.

but i am still apprehensive to make the jump. i feel like all the good email addresses are taken and i'll end up with yet another "paiger"with an "87" on the end email like i have had for the past decade. trust me, i've seen what paige thomas options are out there.

and i don't like the ads in gmail. at least the few ads they have on netscape/aol are pretty.

now i need you to tell me your thoughts on gmail and convince me to catch up with 2011.

i miss college

i miss the energy on campus at the beginning of fall semester.

i miss reading the police beat and people's ridiculous letters in the daily universe.

i miss all those glorious naps i took at the back of the room in my post lunch classes. well, really all my classes.

i miss laughing with my clothing construction friends.

i miss meeting up for lunch and people watching in the wilk.

i miss walking around on campus and running into people. or seeing people i know awkwardly and pretending i didn't see them. (wait, what? i never did that...)

i miss how everyday was a little bit different and the excitement that comes from that.

i miss making fun of all the byusa people but thoroughly enjoying it when they had free food outside the wilk.

i miss buying school supplies. i think i miss this the most. especially since i actually have money to buy school supplies now.

i miss the spirit that is at byu. you are always with people that believe what you do, studying the gospel and there are opportunities to have your testimony strengthened everyday.

but let me tell you what i don't miss: student parking, studying for tests, the stress of not studying for tests, writing papers, procrastinating everything, never ending homework, having literally no money, trying to balance school/work/social life, and that constant feeling that there is always something that you should be working on for school.

i've only been gone for a month, but should i just move back to provo?

i downloaded urban outfitters' latest free playlist last week, lstn 15. if you don't already download these, maybe you should start. there are 25 songs on the playlists and some of them are weird but some of them are kind of amazing. over the past few years pretty much all of the songs i have been obsessed with i have gotten from these playlists.

for example:

back when i was a freshman in college at byu and apparently wore my hair in a pompadour everyday, i lived in helaman halls. i had a roommate named stacy jean bingham. we didn't know each other beforehand but we became friends, the greatest of friends. we did everything together and people started to think of us as one person because we pretty much were. halfway through our sophomore year stacy decided to transfer home to the university of arkansas so we haven't gotten to see each other very much over the past 5 years.

our friend mickelle got married in salt lake last month and stacy came up for the wedding so we got to have a little reunion. we hadn't seen each other in three years and it was really great to get to spend some time together.

i miss her.

is it just me or have we kind of become women...? awkward.

from at&t and now i'm irritated.

the text said something about the new unlimited text messaging plan that now includes free calling to any mobile phone. you probably got this text too? so i go to the website and it is the same price and everything so i'm thinking, "that's pretty nice, maybe they will finally let me drop my minutes and just have this plan."

wrong.

i called at&t to ask them about it and this is why i am frustrated. you are required (no way around it) to have a calling plan, so i have the minimum of 450 minutes (unless you are a senior citizen, which they won't let me be), with rollover and 5,000 night/weekend minutes ($40). since my generation doesn't talk on the phone, the people i do talk to have at&t and because of the rollover, i have thousands of minutes that i will never use. i also have unlimited text messaging ($20)and since i have an iphone, i have to have data so i just have the lowest one ($15). with all the other fees, i pay $85 a month. i find this to be incredibly absurd.

i should really only be paying $35 + fees every month. i am throwing $50 down the drain every single month for minutes i don't even want. that is $600 a year. six HUNDRED dollars!

then i see commercials for all these other cell phone companies like virgin mobile that are unlimited everything for only $50. FIFTY DOLLARS!!! and you don't even have to do a contract!

but oh wait, i can't change even if i wanted to because at&t is run by the devil and i am locked in with a two year contract.

i missed him before, especially when i was the only child at home for christmas last year. but i really miss him now. he sent these pictures a couple weeks ago and all at once it really hit me, how much i miss him. i was fighting back tears while i was looking at the precious pictures and i thought "well, i guess i miss nash a lot now."

this is one of his favorite members. adorable.

he hit his one year mark last week, so we're half way. i hope it goes by quickly.

the thomas family gets together every other year at a different location and it is a lot of people and a lot of fun. this year we were in oceanside, california. it was so great to be with everyone but i had to leave the reunion early and sadly didn't get very many pictures of my family, which is the most important part! what was i thinking?! i apparently wasn't.

i got to go to lake powell in june! i went with my sister, shea's family and their friends. it was a good time. though i will say that 13 children on a houseboat is a little more than i can handle... but still, lake powell is just wonderful.

i cannot believe london is 10 1/2.

it kills me that my baby is growing up.

this one (and rheagan too) is full of sass. and it's adorable.

this little boy was so precious. he was so polite and friendly. probably the coolest 10 year old boy i have ever met.

well the time for the civic and i to go our separate ways has come. i took my car in a couple weeks ago and found out that it has some issues that i felt like were more expensive than i wanted to deal with, so the car shopping commenced. i found a car that i really like and ended up purchasing. here are some not very good pictures of my last day with my best friend:

i wanted to take a picture hugging my car before i left it at the dealership, but i thought the salesman would feel a little awkward being the photographer for that. i had to sit in stand still traffic for 45 minutes (for no good reason - thank you, utah) on the way to pick up the new car. while i was sitting there i was thinking about leaving the civic at the dealership and never seeing it again. i literally started to tear up. we have spent 7 years together and it has been so great to me, gotten me through some of the most important years of my life. it was definitely hard to leave the civic.

but...

I GOT TO DRIVE AWAY IN THIS!

i know what you're thinking, "how can paige afford a bmw?!" well people, it's used and i got a crazy good deal on it. i am seriously in love with this car! working was so hard today because i just wanted to drive and sit in it all day. i am very happy with my decision.

in other pudge news, i got a new job. i am still with the same company, just a different department. i am now a marketing assistant and i really like it so far. the people in my former department got me a cake and a card to send me off to my new position. it is bittersweet, i'm really going to miss working with everyone.

i turned twenty-four on saturday.

it was just a wonderful, low key day. filled with breakfast at kneaders, my babies' (we've established that this refers to my nieces and nephews, right?) soccer game, a 20 minute laying out attempt before the sky (literally) rained on my parade, lunch, target, a precious little wedding reception and fast 5. you may have noticed that i am pretty much obsessed with my birthday. i just think that it is really cool that we celebrate the days that we come into the world. it doesn't have to be a big, grandiose celebration. just the acknowledgement and going out of your way to make someone feel special on their day is what matters to me. and i certainly felt special on my day. so thank you to everyone that contributed!

now let me tell you about my life as a 24 year old. i had my health screening at work today for my insurance premium discount and i learned that i am shorter (wha???) and fatter than i was at 23. one inch shorter and 6 pounds heavier to be exact. really? isn't it a little early for that. i certainly hope this doesn't mean that i need to start working out because let's just be honest. i get winded walking up the stairs... but at least i have the face and acne of a 17 year old, right? right???

but seriously. other than this health screening - which i think was bogus because i have been 5'5" for a while now and i weighed myself this morning at home and it was the same as what i weighed this time last year - i have high hopes for my 24th year of life. seems to be going pretty well so far.

and let's just talk about fast 5 for a quick second. it was definitely enjoyable and probably the best one they've made so far, but i could have used a little less vin and a lot more paul. good thing they're working on a 6th movie!

all of my sisters were in town last weekend (by "in town" i mean utah, brooke and i both live here) and we had a grand old time. eryn flew out from new york for her friend, alexis' wedding on saturday and shea decided to fly out from colorado to make it an official sisters weekend.

one of the benefits of the incredibly slow shutter speed on my iphone camera is that when a person moves their arm in front of another person it makes it look like the stationary person is wearing a half shirt.

i gave this kid a ride home from high school one time and he told me "paige, your car is so weird. it just fits you so well." umm get out of my car.

about a year ago i realized my car is my best friend. we spend at least 80 minutes commuting together everyday. it is so dependable and always there for me. it still loves me even when i wait a year to get the oil changed (i wish that was an exaggeration). and not once has it ever let me down. such amazing loyalty. the hatchback is just so convenient, i don't know how i'd live without one now. and we've just made so many memories. i have come to cherish all those midsummer road trips to colorado, just me and the civic. perfection.

i have also come to the realization that the civic might die soon. it's running okay but i kind of put it through a lot with my commute everyday. since coming to this realization i have been looking at cars. the only ones that i like are suvs from the 1980s/1990s or bmw 3 series.

you know how when women are trying to get pregnant and all they see are babies? well i am apparently trying to get pregnant with a jeep cherokee from the early 1990s. i seriously saw like 100 of them today and i am in love.

they all just scream "paige, love me! we'd be so happy together!" and i'd totally be down with some wood paneling. the boxier the better. i don't like how aerodynamic, 'sleek' and efficient all these new cars are nowadays.

these cars are hardly fuel efficient and i have a 40 minute commute. they are also old and will most likely have problems. but these cars make heart flutter. literally. i get the butterflies and my heart skips when i think about driving them.

all of this has led me to the question:

so the style of my hair color is called 'ombre' or 'melt.' if you can't tell in the pictures, it's dark at the roots and gets lighter on the ends. i've liked it for a while and it is pretty trendy but i just figured i might as well go for it. i really like how it turned out.

2011 holi festival

i am fully aware that the festival of colors happened a few weeks ago and that we all saw about a billion iphone-app-edited-pictures on facebook and you probably don't care to see mine. i have hesitated to post these until now for the above reasons and maybe there isn't anything original about these pictures but that's okay with me.

ali and i decided to go last minute, this was her first holi fest.

look at all those crazy colors, i have no idea how that even happened.

when we first got to the festival this creepy old man stopped me and said that i had a big target on my chest because i didn't have any color on me yet. i just laughed and tried to get away. he proceeded to pull me into him and smash his body against mine to get some of his color to come off on me. and then i ran for my dear life.

and that's the story of that one time when i was molested at the festival of colors.

this time last year my days consisted of waking up whenever, applying for jobs (don't miss that part), feeling overwhelmed and poor (that part either), and watching eight episodes of LOST everyday. doesn't that just sound glorious?

at the time i kind of hated that i couldn't go anywhere or do anything because i didn't have any money but who really wants to leave their apartment and go anywhere and do anything when it is this cold outside?

i know i don't.

i am so grateful that i have a good job and that i can go places and do things but lately i have been feeling really nostalgic for when i just did pretty much nothing.

sometimes (a lot of times actually) i just like doing nothing, you know?

also, i came across a video the other day about Jesus played by desmond! i love desmond! and i always said he looked like Jesus... i actually think that might be what started all this... i need to watch some LOST. asap.

my mom forced me to wear lipstick when i was getting ready for my junior prom. as soon as i was in the car i rubbed that lipstick off as fast as i could and slapped on my one true love: chapstick.

i've just never really felt like a lipstick kind of girl. and then i stumbled upon this little blog and i just don't know anymore (oh and also, can we just add this precious little blog to the list of blogs that make me want to die?). i mean should i just stop wearing all this makeup and only do blush, lipstick and mascara? seriously though... red is always classic and cute and the hot pink. oh my goodness, the hot pink! i am in love.

so my dad gave me his old iphone a few weeks ago. one of the great things about the iphone is that now i can send and receive pictures...hooray! the following is the photographic evidence of my life the past month.

i went down to st. george with these lovelies one weekend...

we rode 4 wheelers, shot guns, ate good food, slept and watched movies.

oh, and i tamed this beast...

i downloaded a polaroid app and you could say i'm a little obsessed.

AND i started wearing earrings.

well, clip on earrings since i still don't think i'm ready for pierced ears.

brooke gave me her old fur bedding. it is so cozy. and classy.

now i can get precious pictures of my colorado babies.

if i'm not all that busy at work i get a little tired. and bored.

one of my projects that i have given myself is to assemble ligature samples.

i may have escalated to drinking rockstars. we had all of these just sitting around the office and i've just been so tired and they are starting to taste good to me and not just like fruit/vomit/bubble gum anymore.

nana made the best pickles in the whole world. i am not even exaggerating. she passed away about 13 years ago and my dad's family has been trying to figure out her pickles (among other recipes) ever since. a couple of my aunts have the recipe just about down.

last weekend brooke and i decided maybe we can get it right on our first try...

after several phone calls to my aunt eileen and mother, this is our result. i'll let you know how they turn out after thanksgiving when we're allowed to open them.

so i saw inception last night and i kind of have mixed feelings about it...like i don't think i really liked it.

i feel like i understood what was going on for the most part which makes me think that maybe i didn't really understand it because everyone keeps saying it was really mind blowing and amazing and difficult to understand - but i didn't feel that way. and i have never had a reaction to a movie like i did this one, it was giving me so much anxiety that i was physically ill watching it, i just wanted it to end. i suppose the concept is interesting, but i don't like the idea of people messing with other people's minds to get what they want - it stresses me out. though i did feel better about things toward/at the end. maybe i need to see it again or discuss it with someone so i realize all the things i didn't catch and maybe i will like it more. maybe.

i think i just like movies that are mostly positive or funny or not too serious...like 17 again which i may have watched twice last weekend. yeah, i said it. twice. that movie is quickly becoming my favorite.

i just had an awkward experience...i just wrote my brother an email on his mission. i can't believe that little nas gas is in the mtc right now. it was a little weird writing him because i don't think i have written a missionary in about two years and i kind of forgot what you write them about.

elder nash thomas is serving in the mexico, tuxtla gutierrez mission. he just went into the mtc this past wednesday. i am excited to hear about all the great experiences he has over the next two years. he's gonna be an awesome missionary and i could really tell that he was ready to go. perhaps he was just so sick of his four older sisters nagging him all the time that he couldn't wait to get as far away from them as possible...

my mom called me in february and the conversation went as follows...

so, may 14th rolls around and mom and i fly over to the "big apple."

the statue of liberty would have been in this picture if i would have been a little more quick on the draw. it's about a centimeter to the left of the edge.

we stayed at my sister, eryn's apartment in astoria (which is in queens). it is a really precious city full of arguing greeks. here's a photo of the park in astoria:

our days mainly consisted of bagels in the morning, walking, shopping, walking, eating, walking, shopping, walking, eating, walking, shopping, walking...and passing out on eryn's floor every night while watching our favorite retarded movies. (keep pretending you don't like shag or how to make an american quilt lauren, we all know you love them.)

it truly was a glorious trip and i had so much fun. and don't worry, i bought a ton of clothes. i really wish that brooke and shea could have come too so it would have been a complete thomas girls' trip. someday, someday. thanks for the best present ever, mom and dad! i am a lucky girl.

my baby (niece) rheagan turns seven today.

let me tell you a little bit about rheagan coralie blandford.

she is the cutest little pint-sized child in the world. don't let her small size fool you, she is very feisty and full of sass. her favorite color is purple and she is into everything girl - barbies, clothes (especially skirts and leggings), her american girl doll, accessories, high school musical, etc. and she has a heart of gold. when i come home for visits she will always cuddle with me on the couch, oh how i miss that.

she is so thoughtful and caring. rheagan was born on the same day as my grandma coralie, hence her middle name. rheagan even kind of looks like grandma coralie. a few months ago, rheagan wrote a letter to grandma and told her that this year they should celebrate their birthdays together. how precious is that? not every child gets to have a joint luau birthday party with their great grandma and it was all her idea. so now i am on my way to their luau.

well, my birthday was good. i started my celebrating with dinner at tucano's the night before my birthday. can i just say that i love that tucano's gives you a free meal on your birthday since it is pretty much the greatest meal ever and i can never afford to go there when it's not free.

on my official day of birth, i woke up to a bathroom mirror and a kitchen cupboard decorated with birthday wishes. when i arrived to work, my cubicle looked like this:

after work i went to dinner and a movie with my roommates and brooke. then i spent three-and-a-half glorious days in new york. all in all, a pretty good birthday.

so...i graduated. a month ago - i'm a little behind in blogging about the events of my life.

to my left is my old roommate, sarah, from my sophomore year. we got to have a precious little reunion.

even the grandparents came.

brooke and david threw me an awesome bbq with deliciously amazing food.

family and friends came.

isn't it irritating that i am wearing a turtleneck sweater at the end of april at a bbq? it is taking forever for summer to arrive in utah. it's supes annoying.

so that was graduation. it was a great day and i am so thankful that i am surrounded by family and friends that are so supportive.

several (six-ish) weeks ago i was perusing websites looking at cars (because the melting plastic smell my car is currently making isn't very encouraging) and i accidently submitted an inquiry to a dealership. said dealership now calls or emails me (or both) everyday to ask me about it.

and i never answer my phone or call them back.

one time i replied to an email apologizing for wasting their time and explaining that i wasn't interested in buying a car. but they haven't given up, they just keep calling and calling.

i know that i could easily just answer my phone, do us both a favor and end this. but i feel like this has been going on for so long that i kind of want to see who gives in first.

i can tell you this much: it's not going to be me.

i stole a blue gumball out of one of those by-the-pound candy bins at albertson's when i was a small child. when we were driving home, my mom asked me where i had gotten the piece of gum i was chewing. i was mad at myself for not realizing that my mom was intelligent and would know what i had done.

when i was five i stole a hot pink watch from tj maxx. as soon as we got home i went over to the neighbor's to show it to them. while i was waiting for them to come to the door i scraped off the price tag as quickly as i could. they never answered and i went home. my mom caught me with it (i must have been wearing it) and i got into trouble. i told her that i needed it to learn how to tell time. my dad drove me back to the store and made me apologize. if my memory serves me correctly, the store clerk didn't seem to care that i had taken the watch. this made me feel like stealing is okay.

st. george was glorious. we (andrea, aaron, and me) drove down after work on friday night and came back late saturday night. i had never been there before and i quite enjoyed myself. the weather was beautiful - though i did not come back as a bronze goddess, in spite of all my efforts. apparently miracles don't happen in two hours at the pool. sigh...

we went to our friend jared's parents' house and it was seriously amazing. i am inviting myself down there again just so i can take pictures of it because i was too lazy to walk to the car and get my camera.

this was the most interesting picture we took the whole 24 hours.

the outlets in st. george are terrible. don't waste your time.

i guess i can call myself a true utahn now because i vacationed in st. george. i have mixed feelings about this.

and maybe i hit a girl with my car on the way home from church yesterday.
