this season of christmas

the christmas season was not intended for getting up and going to work everyday.

i actually have that opinion about all seasons, but this post is about christmas.

i am supposed to be in colorado. i am supposed to be shopping, baking, and decorating with my mother. i haven't spent an entire christmas season at home in over six years and i find this to be very upsetting.

now, let's talk about how precious these christmas decorations are.

view at your own risk

i think halloween might be my favorite holiday. so i've been decorating our department at the office and here are some terrible pictures of it.
i just think it's so fun to hang up all these creepy things and get into it.

i also made monster photos of myself and the two brand managers that i assist and posted them around the office. here's mine:
nothing like a "vampire hamburger made out of babies" mmm mmmm.

scout's honor

as i'm sure you are aware...halloween was last week. andie (get it: andrea + boy scout = andie. i kill myself) and i decided to be boy/cub scouts for halloween.
aren't we just precious?
*note the bloody handprint behind andrea.
we ran into a fellow scouter at the ward halloween party.
i guess he's supposed to be the kid from up.
and i made these brain cupcakes.
they were devil's food. i know, i'm so clever.

baby, it's cold outside

am i the only one that just realized what this song is about?

I really can't stay - Baby it's cold outside
I've got to go away - Baby it's cold outside
This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful, what's your hurry
My father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar
So really I'd better scurry - Beautiful, please don't hurry
Well maybe just a half a drink more - Put some music on while I pour

The neighbors might think - Baby, it's bad out there
Say, what's in this drink - No cabs to be had out there
I wish I knew how - Your eyes are like starlight
To break the spell - I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell
I ought to say no, no, no, sir - Mind if I move closer
At least I'm gonna say that I tried - What's the sense in hurting my pride?
I really can't stay - Baby don't hold out
Ahh, but it's cold outside

C'mon baby

I simply must go - Baby, it's cold outside
The answer is no - Ooh darling, it's cold outside
This welcome has been - I'm lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm - Look out the window at that storm
My sister will be suspicious - Man, your lips look delicious
My brother will be there at the door - Waves upon a tropical shore
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious - Gosh your lips are delicious
Well maybe just a half a drink more - Never such a blizzard before

I've got to go home - Oh, baby, you'll freeze out there
Say, lend me your coat - It's up to your knees out there
You've really been grand - I thrill when you touch my hand
But don't you see - How can you do this thing to me?
There's bound to be talk tomorrow - Think of my life long sorrow
At least there will be plenty implied - If you caught pneumonia and died
I really can't stay - Get over that hold out
Ahh, but it's cold outside

Baby it's cold outside

Brr it's cold.
It's cold out there
Cant you stay awhile longer baby
Well...I really shouldn't...alright
Make it worth your while baby
Ahh, do that again.

this guy just can't take no for an answer and i am pretty sure he put a roofie in her drink. this song is about date rape. i hardly think that captures the essence of christmas.

i still like it though.

halloween happenings

so i decided to be catwoman. i put on the superwoman costume and i looked like a giant nerd, so i thought it would be okay to be a cat for the third time. it was that bad.

apparently my version of catwoman has bell's palsy. watch out.

if you try to buy a pumpkin on halloween you will end up with this reject that no one else wanted.

and the highlight of my halloween night.....

turning alex beazer into an emo boy. at one point lindsey was drawing sad tattoos on his arms, i was doing his makeup and andrea was painting his nails. it was seriously so fun.

he was doing a really good (frighteningly good) job of getting into character and we kept trying to take a picture but then i would start laughing when i was about to take it which would then make him laugh and ruin the picture. but then we finally got this gem...

hide the tissues.

what is happening tomorrow?

answer: halloween!

i have no idea what i'll be doing halloween night, but i can promise you it will be fun, scary and not involve a provo dance party.

yesterday we found this precious little halloween idea. if you need a last minute centerpiece or something cute to decorate with, it looks way easy and pretty much foolproof. the only limiting factor would probably be drying time.

what are your plans this halloween?

once again, i need your opinion.

what should i be for halloween?

my apartment is doing a superhero theme and i am having a hard time deciding between catwoman (i am aware she is a villain and not a hero) and superwoman. i have been a cat (but not catwoman) twice in college and probably shouldn't be a cat again, but i'm a little more attracted to the catwoman costume than the superwoman costume.

what's a girl to do?

the break.

i went home for christmas break and it was fabulous.  it was just so nice to relax and not have a care in the world for a couple weeks, pure bliss.  it was also wonderful to spend some time with my family.

dad wearing my sunglasses.  i think they look pretty good on him.

this is my oldest niece, london.  she turned 8 on december 20th.  i can't believe how old she is, i was literally fighting back tears while she blew out her candles.  my baby's growing up!

our family goes bowling every christmas eve and this year we invited some family friends to join us, the johnsons and bennetts.  this is my sister, eryn, and matt johnson.

mom and me baking sugar cookies.  i look slightly crazy and mom is trying to imitate my pucker face.  and my mom doesn't have two different colored eyes, when i was getting rid of the red eye, it went a little weird.

london and rheagan gave us a flexibility show on christmas eve.  it was pretty entertaining.

when my dad sang "paranoid" by black sabbath, i thought i might pee my pants.  seriously one of the funniest slash greatest things i have ever seen.

after swimming at the rec center, rheagan is such a little lady.  i kept telling her that i wanted her dress because it looked so cute and comfortable and she just kept telling me i couldn't have it.

scarlett just loves her popcorn.

she is one of the silliest babies in the world.  she had us all laughing so hard at dinner one night because she kept tilting her head down and looking up at you.  it's hard to describe, but it was precious and hilarious.  later we were watching hot rod and every time a song came on she just started dancing and wiggling.  so cute.

it was so fun to be at home, but it is also good to be back in provo.  as much as i hate provo, it is starting to become home.  don't you just hate it when that happens?

halloween happenings

halloween was kicked off the saturday before by a couple of mysterious ninjas that made a late night appearance at our apartment. it was terrifying.

the night before halloween, our ward had a dance party in the garage of our complex. here are all the roommates just after getting ready.

on halloween night, my friend mark and i met up with sarah and jason for sarah's brother, tim's party.

i don't know what i'm doing in this picture, but it's the only one i have from the party. here we are playing black jack...ignore the gambling indian stereotype. completely on accident.

since it was after all halloween in provo, we hit up a dance party for about 5 minutes. i told mark we would go long enough to take a picture and that's exactly what we did.

after all the parties we picked up alex (who was too lame to come out with us in the first place) and watched a "scary" movie called fear x. it was okay, but not at all scary, it was a little mistitled. we were going to go to a haunted house on campus, but the line was about 2 buildings long and it was starting to rain, so we decided to forgo waiting. all in all, it was a pretty fun halloween!

4th of july festivities slash trip home to colorado

this weekend i decided to drive home to colorado and celebrate our nation's independence with my family. i met my parents and brother in breckenridge and we had a grand old time.

nash usually doesn't look so creepy...

these two are becoming the same person.

guess i was the only one that got the memo on making a stupid face. we got a little bored waiting for the fireworks to start.

on saturday i got to hang out with my sister shea's family. we ate dippin dots, watched a movie, and played rock band...three ingredients for a perfect evening.

but alas, i had to drive back to utah today (alone, for 7 glorious hours). this is a picture by a rest area in glenwood canyon, the most aesthetically pleasing part of the drive.
