five

fast five was on tv last night.

as i sat there and watched the last 20 minutes i thought to myself, "man, i wish the sixth fast and furious movie was out so that paul walker and i could spend my birthday together like we did last year."

because i don't know if you know this, but my 25th birthday is in five days.

FIVE DAYS, PEOPLE!

don't worry, there's still time to get me a present.  i even made a board on pinterest to help you in your search, you can view it here. if it isn't obvious, i'd really like a pair of j.crew shorts.  i'd also like to add a costco/giant size bag of riesens to that list.  every year i hope that someone will get this for me and no one ever does. so this year i am just going to ask for it.

i'm going to be 25 in five days.

it's time for another paul walker post.

so i'm in the middle of a fast and furious marathon (don't judge).

seriously paul walker, can you please stop being so incredibly attractive? and can you please tell your eyes to stop piercing into my soul? and can you please stop having just the right amount of scruff? it isn't good for my heart.

well paul, if you can't stop any of the above, can you please never stop making these fast and furious movies? i'd really appreciate it.

sending you huge amounts of love right now,
paige

oh paulie.

so you may have heard about fast five. i have no idea why they keep making these movies but i'm okay with it. i've said it before and i'll say it again. most attractive man to have ever walked this planet.
i mean how could you resist this?

baaaaaah. love.

i am seriously going to the midnight showing of this. who's in?
i'll go by myself if i have to.

inception

so i saw inception last night and i kind of have mixed feelings about it...like i don't think i really liked it.

i feel like i understood what was going on for the most part which makes me think that maybe i didn't really understand it because everyone keeps saying it was really mind blowing and amazing and difficult to understand - but i didn't feel that way. and i have never had a reaction to a movie like i did this one, it was giving me so much anxiety that i was physically ill watching it, i just wanted it to end. i suppose the concept is interesting, but i don't like the idea of people messing with other people's minds to get what they want - it stresses me out. though i did feel better about things toward/at the end. maybe i need to see it again or discuss it with someone so i realize all the things i didn't catch and maybe i will like it more. maybe.

i think i just like movies that are mostly positive or funny or not too serious...like 17 again which i may have watched twice last weekend. yeah, i said it. twice. that movie is quickly becoming my favorite.

well done colin farrell.

so i was just skipping through channels and i saw that the movie alexander was on and from the five minutes i watched it, this is what i gathered:

1. apparently the ancient greek accent sounds a lot like an irish one.

2. alexander the great was gay and had a homosexual "bromance" with jared leto. or whoever he was playing.

well done colin farrell, well done. you have really proved what a fine actor you are in your ability to articulate a variety of accents. well done.

oh michael.

remember how the character michael on lost is played by harold perrineau and how in pretty much all of season 2 he just says "they took my son" over and over and over and it got really annoying?

well, he also played the role of mercutio in the 1996 romeo + juliet. i was reminded of this the other night when it was on tv and i had a good laugh at this part.

on a side note: if you haven't seen this version of romeo and juliet, you need to. it is quite a good movie in my opinion.

dear zooey, can we be friends?

so i watched yes man this weekend and i was left with one question:

can i just be zooey deschanel already?

she has the cutest style and just seems so fun and cool. her hair is especially thick and luscious in yes man, which is (yet again) making me want to grow my hair out. and her voice, come on. if i could sing like anyone in the world i would want it to be her.

so zooey, can we please be friends?

so i saw avatar today

fern gully + dances with wolves + pocahontas + lord of the rings + last samurai + the twilight series = avatar.

it wasn't really my genre of movie, but i can still appreciate the awesome-ness of it and how incredible it is, etc. watching it in 3D was a little annoying at first, but it did add to the experience.

all and all i liked it.

but do you want to know what really made the movie worth while?
mr. sam worthington

this picture doesn't even do him justice. he pulled off buzzed hair, slightly longer wavy messy hair, clean shaven, scruffy, full out beard...not very many men can do that. i mean...he even made that avatar in the background start to look attractive. you honestly should see it just so you can experience how incredibly good looking he is. you really won't regret it. i promise.

oh sam.

maybe, just maybe

maybe i saw new moon last night.

maybe i purchased my ticket one month in advance.

maybe i re-read the book so i could point out all the things that were wrong in the movie.

maybe i made t-shirts with my roommates to wear to the movie several days in advance.

maybe alex and mark begged us to make t-shirts for them too so they could join the fun.

maybe jen yelled "i love edward" at the top of her lungs when the movie started.

maybe lindsey realized that she loves a sixteen-year-old werewolf named jacob.

maybe i had a lot of fun partaking in the new moon craziness.

that sparkly word is intoxicated, if you can't tell.

there's really no way to tell.

r.i.p. john hughes

goodbye john hughes. you have touched every one of our lives so deeply with your cinematic genius. you will be missed. i grew up watching your movies with my older sisters and i'm pretty sure they are some of the best ever made, especially my favorite movie ever...sixteen candles.

and thank you for introducing perfection into my life that no real man can ever live up to...

oh jake ryan. you will always have my heart. love you.

summer summer summer

i enjoyed a very summery weekend.

it started off with riding bikes around the cul-de-sac with a & g friday night while babysitting. before that we made some delicious chocolate chip cookies. mmm mmm good.

saturday i attended "slip n slide mania" at a park in sandy with some friends. as you may know, i live my life in fear and when i saw this 200 foot slip n slide, i promptly let everyone know that i would not be going down the slide but would be happy to spray people and the slide with the hose. what can i say? i'm just a giant pansy. BUT i did end up going down the slide...twice. i am so proud of myself. even in spite of the fact that my behind is quite sore from it. and since i was standing in the sun all day...i am kind of becoming a bronze goddess. summer goal #1 - check.

saturday night i finally got to see 500 days of summer. utah is so lame and i swear we never get the cool movies when they first come out. can i just tell you how much i loved this movie? a lot. that's how much. it was sooooo good. it was smart, funny, artistic, sad, beautiful...it was just wonderful. seriously though, it is one of my new favorite movies. it is creatively put together, the soundtrack is awesome, the actors all did an amazing job, this movie really is perfection. the characters are very relateable - i am totally tom hansen, so thanks a lot. i can't decide if that's a good thing or not. go see it right now if you haven't already. if you have seen it, leave a little comment on what you thought and we can have a little discussion about it, okay? okay.

i've made up my mind

i know it's not june 23rd, but i have made my decision.

i am going to grow out my hair.  what persuaded me you say?  four words: sandra bullock + the proposal.  i went to the sneak preview last night and her hair was so luscious.  it is really long and the color is amazing - dark brown with caramel and copperish highlights.  she wore it in all these cute ponytails and when it was down it was slightly wavy and gorgeous.  i am going to color my hair like hers when i go home in july (if shea is willing) and hopefully in a year my hair will be as long (i wish it could happen sooner) as hers.  i feel at peace now, having made my decision.  i'll cut my hair super short one day, perhaps when my face has thinned out and i don't look like such a baby.

and yes, the proposal was really good.  it was quite hilarious and had a nice little spin on the typical romantic comedy.  and of course, ryan reynolds is so foxy that i can barely stand it.  i would highly recommend seeing it when it comes out this friday.

*on a side note, who else is a little aggravated by all this cloudy/rainy weather in utah?  i love rain, but not when it interferes with my plans of becoming a bronze goddess.

hmmm

i tried watching jumper last night because of my non-lesbian crush on rachel bilson.

i had heard the movie wasn't very good but i thought i would give it a shot.  this was a mistake.  i don't think i even made it half an hour.

yes, rachel is precious and hayden christensen is rather attractive, but no.  the movie was retarded.

a beautiful weekend.

if i could use one word to describe this weekend it would be...beauty.  i had my step kardio fusion class on saturday morning, no exams, the weather was gorgeous, and i watched sofia coppola's marie antoinette twice.

yes, i said it, twice.  i remember anxiously waiting for the movie to come out in theaters in the fall of 2006.  stacy and i saw it and left the theater a little disappointed.  i thought the music (the cure, siouxsie and the banshees, dustin o'halloran, the strokes - how could you not love it?) was amazing and promptly added it to my christmas wishlist.  i thought that was about all it had to offer.

i was definitely singing a different tune this time.  i don't think i have ever seen a prettier movie in my entire life.  the colors are beautiful, muted blues, pinks and minty greens.  the costumes were phenomenal and from what i have learned in my history of apparel class, quite accurate for the time period.  i want one of those dresses.  the food was beautiful.  can i just sit around all day and eat pretty sweets?  also, can i run around versailles all day with my friends listening to cool music?  in true sofia coppola form, there is very little dialogue in the movie, but that is part of what makes it so intriguing.  i can't exactly pinpoint what it is, but this movie has just affected me and i can't stop thinking about it.

hello gorgeous

i don't know much about the life of marie antoinette other than what i saw in the movie, but it seems to me that she had a somewhat difficult life and was misunderstood.  while i do not agree with all of her actions, spoiler alert: i.e. her affair with count fersen - though he was quite nice to look at.  but i do think she was placed in a very difficult situation at a very young age and she dealt with it the best she could - by living a life of excess.

if you are ever in the mood for beauty and intrigue i would highly recommend marie antoinette.

*side note: i just want to let you all know that i wrote this while i was supposed to be writing a 4 page paper that is due in about 9 1/2 hours that i have barely started.  why do i do these things to myself?

have you seen this?

please tell me you have seen the secret life of bees. this movie is amazing. i read the book a couple years ago and thought that it too was amazing, but the movie just affected me so much more - probably because i am a visual person. i saw the movie twice in the theater (big deal when you're poor) and rented it the week it came out on dvd. i thought it was well cast which is surprising because i don't really like queen latifa or alicia keys, but they all played their parts so well, especially dakota fanning. i am so impressed by dakota, she is such a good little actress. she has this presence in a movie that is remarkable for only being 15 years old and she has been that way ever since she started acting. she reminds me of my niece, so maybe i am a little biased. anyway, the movie is wonderful. if you haven't seen it, please do - it will make you feel so good inside. you will want to cry the entire movie and if you're like me, you will cry through the entire movie.

i don't want to spoil anything, so i will just tell you this - moral of the story: everyone deserves to be loved.

anyone else as mesmerized with this movie as i am?
