not to be confused with lincoln park.

i kind of really like this song and it makes me hate myself.
i even like the part when that guy talks with rhythm (raps?).

will you still be my friend knowing that i like a linkin park song?  if not, i totally understand.  i don't really want to be my friend either.

lstn here...

i downloaded urban outfitters' latest free playlist last week, lstn 15. if you don't already download these, maybe you should start. there are 25 songs on the playlists and some of them are weird but some of them are kind of amazing. over the past few years pretty much all of the songs i have been obsessed with i have gotten from these playlists.

for example:

"electric feel" by mgmt
"home" by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros
"feel it all around" by washed out
"the shaded forests" by deastro
"basic space" by the xx
"tonight's today" by jack penate
"the reeling" and "cuddle fuddle" by passion pit
...and a lot more.

now on to the real purpose of this post. this song, "coming down" by the dum dum girls, is on lstn 15 and i am thoroughly enjoying it right now. maybe you will too?

and for your listening pleasure:
it sounds like it is from the nineties and i feel like it would be on an episode of my so-called life. but that might just be because it kind of sounds like this song in the most epic moment of the entire series, when jordan catalano (jared leto!) finally acknowledges his relationship with angela.

if you weren't like me and didn't have older sisters that were obsessed with this show when it was on, go watch it on netflix. it's only one season and it was kind of amazing.

but seriously, this song is pretty great. wouldn't you agree?

say wot?

so orem high school has a radio station (91.7 kohs) and sometimes it's awesome. other times, not so much. but they don't play commercials! isn't that just glorious?

well i heard them play this song the other day and then i heard them play it again. and now i think you should listen to it. right now.
wasn't that just super weird? ...and you couldn't help but love it?
yeah, me too.

in other news, while i was putting away my laundry and watching a show on hulu tonight my computer froze like this...
gorgeous.

so it's monday.

and my flowers are feeling it.
if you would like a song to pick you up from your monday blues, i would recommend searching for the band "the asteroids galaxy tour" on grooveshark and listening to the following songs: the golden age, around the bend, and the sun ain't shining no more. brooke showed them to me last night and seriously...precious.

ALSO

for work we are reading books about sales and mine is called "how to be a giant dbag." oh, i mean "how to say it to sell it." here are some inspiring quotes for your monday:
i found these gems just 2 pages into the book. i wish i could say that i exaggerated how ridiculous these are, but no. they are real. and yes, i did print them out and post them in my cubicle and am pretending i think they are cool. i also wish i could say that was my genius idea, but alas it was not. thanks for the idea drewgle! but i am still going to take credit for it.

dang it!

so i kind of feel like the band muse is pretty much super lame. i've already talked about this, so you can read about that here.

but dang it, muse. i kind of really like the song 'starlight'. especially the piano parts.

the video is a little odd but the song is pretty much amazing.

you can also listen to it here.

i'm also really liking adele's new song, rolling in the deep. girl can sing.

dreaming of colder weather

do you think that when it gets cold outside they'll stop playing "california girls" by katy perry on the radio?

i sure hope so.

she & him

you know how i love zooey deschanel? andrea and i went to the she & him concert last week. it was amazing. as if it were possible, i think i want to be zooey even more now. she is so cute and nice, and sounded just as good live as she does on their albums.

we're so indie...
i had plans to kidnap zooey and force her into best friendship...and they were successful. we're hanging out right now.
*love the good quality photos.

i can't get enough of this song. i look forward to the eat pray love (which i can't wait to see) trailer to come on in commercial breaks just so i can hear it.

BooBooNeeZee

so apparently my cousin, jesse thomas, has a band. and he plays the "keeeyboard." their name is BooBooNeeZee and this is their myspace page.

if i didn't think they were awesome i wouldn't be writing about in on this blog. but don't take my word for it.

i can't get enough of these songs.

remember natalie imbruglia?

as i was driving home from crafting with brooke tonight, natalie imbruglia's song "leave me alone" came on my ipod and i couldn't help but listen.
remember when you were thirteen and played dolls in your bedroom while listening to her album left of the middle for hours on end? what? did i just say thirteen? i meant eight, who plays with dolls until they are (at least) thirteen? that's weird.

moving on...

i was wondering what ever happened to natalie imbruglia? she is quite talented and supes cute with her short hair (i need to get hair off my mind) and slight sassiness. did she ever have a second album? did she breakup with david schwimmer because he is supes gay? is she living in her homeland of australia? was her song a hint and does she just want everyone to leave her alone?

these are all questions i would like answered. by you. now.

p.s. my home teacher was telling us about these girls that he knows that say "supes" all the time instead of "super" and how annoying he thinks it is...so we of course promptly added it into our vocabulary to annoy him, ourselves and everyone around us. you're welcome.

am i missing something?

i was just driving home and heard a song from muse come on the radio. to be honest, i don't get what all the hubbup is about.

everyone - well, maybe not everyone - is always talking about how awesome muse is and i feel like i am the only person that doesn't really care for their music. i'll admit that i haven't listened to them all that much and the songs that i have heard are just their most popular ones that are on the radio or in movies or whatever. from what i've heard of them, i don't really have all that much desire to hear more. i feel like they are kind of gay/cheesy and full of power ballads. and the fact that stephenie meyer was obsessed with muse while she wrote the twilight series doesn't really help their case either. and i can't believe that i just found a musewiki website via google.

really? is it just me? am i missing something?

p.s. my intention with this post is not to offend any muse lovers. all the power to you.

my top 25

so my new friend johnny did the top 25 songs he listened to in 2009 on his blog and i decided to steal his idea and make a list of my own. and i even made a playlist of all the songs for your listening pleasure.

25. "this is your life" - the killers
24. "avril 14th" - aphex twin *
23. "jynweythek ylow" - aphex twin *
22. "tonight's today" - jack penate
21. "i know what i am" - band of skulls
20. "ceremony" - new order *
19. "fools rush in (kevin shields remix)" - bow wow wow *
18. "6 underground" - sneaker pimps
17. "flashing lights" - kanye west
16. "dance wiv me" - dizzee rascal & calvin harris
15. "colours" - calvin harris
14. "my weakness" - moby
13. "pumpkin soup" - kate nash
12. "breathe in" - frou frou
11. "home" - edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros
10. "feel it all around" - washed out
9. "opus 17" - dustin o'halloran *
8. "basic space" - the xx
7. "neon rocks" - calvin harris
6. "cry for you" - september **
5. "back in your head" - tegan and sara
4. "electric feel" - mgmt
3. "full moon" - the black ghosts
2. "opus 36" - dustin o'halloran *
1. "opus 23" - dustin o'halloran (which i listened to 138 times, kind of ridiculous) *

so, what did we learn? pudge is a little obsessed with the marie antoinette soundtrack (songs with an *) and apparently some of her favorite songs are a little embarrassing (i.e. **).

baby, it's cold outside

am i the only one that just realized what this song is about?

I really can't stay - Baby it's cold outside
I've got to go away - Baby it's cold outside
This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful, what's your hurry
My father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar
So really I'd better scurry - Beautiful, please don't hurry
Well maybe just a half a drink more - Put some music on while I pour

The neighbors might think - Baby, it's bad out there
Say, what's in this drink - No cabs to be had out there
I wish I knew how - Your eyes are like starlight
To break the spell - I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell
I ought to say no, no, no, sir - Mind if I move closer
At least I'm gonna say that I tried - What's the sense in hurting my pride?
I really can't stay - Baby don't hold out
Ahh, but it's cold outside

C'mon baby

I simply must go - Baby, it's cold outside
The answer is no - Ooh darling, it's cold outside
This welcome has been - I'm lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm - Look out the window at that storm
My sister will be suspicious - Man, your lips look delicious
My brother will be there at the door - Waves upon a tropical shore
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious - Gosh your lips are delicious
Well maybe just a half a drink more - Never such a blizzard before

I've got to go home - Oh, baby, you'll freeze out there
Say, lend me your coat - It's up to your knees out there
You've really been grand - I thrill when you touch my hand
But don't you see - How can you do this thing to me?
There's bound to be talk tomorrow - Think of my life long sorrow
At least there will be plenty implied - If you caught pneumonia and died
I really can't stay - Get over that hold out
Ahh, but it's cold outside

Baby it's cold outside

Brr it's cold.
It's cold out there
Cant you stay awhile longer baby
Well...I really shouldn't...alright
Make it worth your while baby
Ahh, do that again.

this guy just can't take no for an answer and i am pretty sure he put a roofie in her drink. this song is about date rape. i hardly think that captures the essence of christmas.

i still like it though.
