i don't even like animals but...
how could you resist this precious little face?

or this one?
if i can't share my life with a man, i am going to share it with a dog.
specifically this dog. and we will take professional studio portraits.
much like rob & big did here.
p.s. how do you feel about just the regular old "minima" template versus the "minima stretch" template i had previously? i feel like the current, regular minima makes just pudge look a bit more precious but i just can't decide. and while we're at it, my header needs help and i need your suggestions.

so i saw avatar today
fern gully + dances with wolves + pocahontas + lord of the rings + last samurai + the twilight series = avatar.
it wasn't really my genre of movie, but i can still appreciate the awesome-ness of it and how incredible it is, etc. watching it in 3D was a little annoying at first, but it did add to the experience.
all and all i liked it.
but do you want to know what really made the movie worth while?
mr. sam worthington
this picture doesn't even do him justice. he pulled off buzzed hair, slightly longer wavy messy hair, clean shaven, scruffy, full out beard...not very many men can do that. i mean...he even made that avatar in the background start to look attractive. you honestly should see it just so you can experience how incredibly good looking he is. you really won't regret it. i promise.
oh sam.

slumber party
so last night my two oldest nieces, london (9) and rheagan (6), slept in my room with me on the floor. i did offer to let them sleep in my bed with me but seeing as i am under the weather they did not want to. so no, i did not force them to sleep on the floor, i am a nice aunt.
london needed a pillow, so i threw one at her and happened to hit her right in the face. rheagan and i started laughing hysterically because it really was quite funny. then while we were laying in bed the following conversation occurred.
me: remember when i threw that pillow at london's face?
london: uuhhh...that just happened...why would you say that.
london attacking me with her pillow.
rheagan (to london): i better not feel your feet touching me tonight.
london: you won't, i'm wearing socks.
rheagan: well i better not feel you cuddling me tonight either.
laughter ensues and more attacking me with pillows.
london: we should put this on youtube.
me: what's that red mark on london's face?
london: not my face! not my new face!
me: your new face? you're nine years old, what's your old face...?
rheagan (to london): just go get your stinkin DS
london taking a little bit to give it to her...
rheagan: you're killing me right now.
i love my family. i swear there aren't any cuter or funnier kids than the ones in my family.

never again will i say...
...that there is nothing to do in provo. over on c. jane's guide to provo, she is doing a list of 100 things to do in provo. click here for 80-100, here for 61-79, here for 40-60, here for 21-39, and here for 1-20. she even has addresses of the best christmas decorated houses in provo on her sidebar.
here are some of my favorites/things i want to do (i am too lazy to put these in order):
89. Discover the secret ghost town feel to Olmstead--the neighborhood at the mouth of Provo Canyon (North Canyon Hills Road).
91. Golf at Riverside Country Club.
95. Stroll down Lover's Lane with your lover, or roommate. (who knew provo had a lover's lane other than squaw peak?)
97. Take a friend fishing at Footprinters Park.
74. Observe your experience while shopping at Reams on West Center street. (that store is terrifying)
73. Volunteer at Provo's Food and Care Coalition.
76. Compare your shopping experience at Reams with your shopping experience at Allen's on 3rd South.
79. Walk on a frozen Utah Lake in the dead of winter.
58. Spend a night at the Hines Mansion Bed & Breakfast.
32. Buy a bouquet of flowers at the Flower Basket.
33. Order a hot plate of fries at Stan's, repeat if you must. (is that place actually good? i wondered that a lot back in my king henry days.)
4. Eat fish and chips at Ripples, wash down with a limeade--the world's best limeade, to add
6. Tour the Provo Library.
19. Drive to the airport road loop. Stop to see cranes, pelicans and geese. Also watch the planes fly over.
20. Roll down the hills with your body or slide on a sled (depending on the season) at Rock Canyon park. (Ice blocks work too--if you don't mind wet bum.)
okay, who's doing all these things with me?

oy vey!
i just found the greatest website.
in case you didn't already know, i am an eighth jewish. the jewishness in our family comes from latvia, which used to be part of russia which means that i am a russian jew and maybe, just maybe fiddler on the roof is about my family. okay that may be a bit of a stretch, but i am very proud of my jewish heritage. you know those "everyone loves a _____ girl" shirts? well, one time we were in urban outfitters and they had one that said "everyone loves a jewish girl" and my mom wouldn't buy it for me with the reason that i am "not" jewish. sure mom, sure.
in honor of my jewishness, i have been saying for years that i want to learn yiddish and have never really done anything about it. except for saying "mazel tov" in awkward situations. well, today is the day that everything changes.
i found a website that has a yiddish dictionary! and this other website translates phrases/words into yiddish! so don't be surprised when you see me and i say things like:
vos vet zein, vet zein! = what will be, will be!
quit being such a meshugeneh. = quite being such a crazy person.
vooden = what do you expect?/of course/what else?
gloib mir = believe me
ugghhh, this is a kappora = ugghhh, this is a catastrophe.
i am fachadick = i am very confused
a klog is mir = woe is me
that's hockin me a chinick = that's extremely annoying.
the list really could go on and on, so i will just leave you with those to ponder. you're welcome.
