moving on

look at this forecast for salt lake:
now look at this forecast for newport beach, ca:
now that is my kind of winter. doesn't that just look so nice?

i'll admit that this winter has been pretty mild and that forecast isn't too bad for january. BUT i can't take it anymore. i am over winters. i am over going outside and feeling cold. i am over salt lake county's inversion that makes everything ugly. i've said this in winters past, but i really mean it this time - this is going to be my last winter in utah.

i have decided to move to southern california. i really don't like living in utah and don't have a very good reason to continue - other than a good job and friends, but i'm sure i can find another good job and my friends can visit me (or move with me...) and i'll make new ones too.

it will be a fun adventure and it will be new. i need something new. new is scary and exciting all at the same time. and i haven't really had to do that in a looong time.

now i need your help. where is the best place for a single lds girl to live? i would prefer one of the towns that has a beach in it. like newport beach, laguna beach, huntington beach, etc. mainly because that is what i know from tv. and when i've been there they seem like really nice places to live. how do i go about this? i've only lived in provo and my sister's basement....

who wants to move there with me and embark on this journey together? who wants to help me find a job or knows of something that will be opening up in the next couple months? help me please!

CALIFORNIA!!!!!! here i come!

Paige! How fun. I think this is a great idea for you! You should talk to Maddi, she knows the area pretty well. (she lives in Hermosa Beach). I'm so happy for you!

awesome! that was my plan if the whole marriage thing didn't work out. I can say though, that life beyond utah winters is a glorious and amazing thing. It is time!

k - i don't know if my last comment posted. so I'm doing this again. Basically, maybe I'll go with you?! I just graduated and am thinking about where to go and what to do. I was super close to moving to palo alto but I am just waiting to know what to do money-wise. seeing how i haven't worked at all i really need to make some mones before I move to such an expensive place.

let me know what you decide to do and when you do it!! And what jobs you would go for out there!

Paige, I have a few friends in Costa Mesa who LOVE the town, the singles' ward, proximity to the beach, everything. Good luck!

Aaaaah! Why didn't you do this sooner?? Curses.

Well, the weather here IS fantastic. It's expensive ... particularly in the beach towns. Laguna, Corona del Mar, Oceanside, and Torrence are my favorite beach towns around here, but I'm not sure what the LDS life is like.

If you want to go a little more inland, there is a young man I would love to set you up with ...

um Hi I was JUST thinking the other day how I want to up and move to California right now. I envy you that you're actually doing it. Can I live vicariously through you until I can get myself to up and move like that?

whoa, paige. whoa. i never saw you as a SoCal girl, but that's ok. i can support you in this :) you should talk to my friend Tresa who moved out there a couple years ago. She got a nanny job for a super rich guy in Malibu - maybe she has some hook ups. let me know, and i'll give you her number or something. i am going to miss you :( i would also echo alex's comment about huntington beach as another friend of mine found a huge house down the street from the beach and split the rent between 5 guys making it super cheap. he said he found the place by calling a bunch of bishops in the area and asking if they knew of any people moving. try that too :)

Stop it! Stop it right the h now! You are moving down here? Down to So Cal? You better not be messin' with me, Pudge. This is a wonderfuly perfect idea. If you ever want to come check out the scene down here, you just let me know. Logan and I would love to put a roof over your cute little head for a few days. Seriously.

p.s. I found your blog through facebook, like a true stalker.
