emotionally attached.

we've been together for nearly 18 months.  and 17 of those months have been well, quite wonderful.

i'm in love with my car.  isn't she pretty?

i mean, i even wrote a happy anniversary post to it.  to my car.  if that isn't true love, i don't know what is.

but you see, my love unfortunately isn't blind and i can see her faults.  like the fact that she is at 89,100 miles.  like her price tag when it comes to well, everything.  like that time i opted not to pay $1,500 to fix her water pump (those aren't important, right?) and then she got mad at me and overheated in the mountains 9 months later.  real mature.  that $4,000 (yes, three zeros) repair bill was super fun.  i totally didn't need all that money it took me all those months to save.  but you know, i suppose i kind of brought that one on myself.  note to self - fix things in red on the summary sheet at the car shop.

on that note, i have to get her rear brakes and tires done.  if i do that at bmw (which i'm not going to) it will be over $1,000 for both.  if i go somewhere else, like $400 for the brakes and i have no idea what tires cost, so maybe like $800 total.  when they told me this a few weeks ago i decided it was time to trade her in for a new car.

so i've been looking at other baby suvs.  i haven't test driven that many but every time that i have gotten back into my car at the dealership i just think "man i love my car."  i don't need all these fancy new technology things, except bluetooth.  i can't hold my phone up to my ear anymore.  you just can't come back from that.  i just want my car.  i love the giant sunroof, the perfect thickness of the steering wheel for my hands, the bluetooth, the heated steering wheel, the instant heated seats, the fake wood whatever stuff on the interior, how speedy and good at accelerating she is.  but with at least 40,000 miles less.  and with brand new brakes and tires that i didn't have to pay for.  is this too much to ask?

so pretty much, i have an emotional attachment to my car.  maybe that makes me ridiculous, but this is just where i'm at right now.

i seriously can't play this song loud enough in my car.
and those speakers can get loooud.

"oooah oo oo ah oooah oo oo ah oooah oo oo ah"
yeah, that's how it goes.

remember when i said

that i was going to work out while i watched the bachelor last night but i ate a giant bowl of this ice cream instead?

i have no regrets.

i'd like to introduce you to my best friend.

i gave this kid a ride home from high school one time and he told me "paige, your car is so weird. it just fits you so well." umm get out of my car.

about a year ago i realized my car is my best friend. we spend at least 80 minutes commuting together everyday. it is so dependable and always there for me. it still loves me even when i wait a year to get the oil changed (i wish that was an exaggeration). and not once has it ever let me down. such amazing loyalty. the hatchback is just so convenient, i don't know how i'd live without one now. and we've just made so many memories. i have come to cherish all those midsummer road trips to colorado, just me and the civic. perfection.

i have also come to the realization that the civic might die soon. it's running okay but i kind of put it through a lot with my commute everyday. since coming to this realization i have been looking at cars. the only ones that i like are suvs from the 1980s/1990s or bmw 3 series.

you know how when women are trying to get pregnant and all they see are babies? well i am apparently trying to get pregnant with a jeep cherokee from the early 1990s. i seriously saw like 100 of them today and i am in love.
they all just scream "paige, love me! we'd be so happy together!" and i'd totally be down with some wood paneling. the boxier the better. i don't like how aerodynamic, 'sleek' and efficient all these new cars are nowadays.

these cars are hardly fuel efficient and i have a 40 minute commute. they are also old and will most likely have problems. but these cars make heart flutter. literally. i get the butterflies and my heart skips when i think about driving them.

all of this has led me to the question:
am i allergic to practicality?

p.s. - i want these books

i have this recent obsession with books. not literature type books...fun books. modcloth has apartment stuff now (kill me...so precious) and i want all of these books that are on their website. i mean, don't you?
since i have already purchased this one and this one, oh and this one too...i can't really justify buying any more books. SO...my half birthday is only two months and eight days away and i know that you have thought to yourself "i want to buy paige a present, i wonder what she would want..." well, now you know. go here on modcloth's website and purchase away. AND since i like to make things and i'm pretty sure i have uttered the phrase "p.s. i made this" i want this book too.

you're welcome.

she & him

you know how i love zooey deschanel? andrea and i went to the she & him concert last week. it was amazing. as if it were possible, i think i want to be zooey even more now. she is so cute and nice, and sounded just as good live as she does on their albums.

we're so indie...
i had plans to kidnap zooey and force her into best friendship...and they were successful. we're hanging out right now.
*love the good quality photos.

unemployed and hungry.

so i've always kind of had a thing for meat. ever since i was a kid, i just love a good steak but really, who doesn't? weird vegetarians that are missing out on life, but that's beside the point.
as of late, i have been craving steak (and pretty much any flavorful food) like crazy. this is somewhat unfortunate considering that my diet consists of cereal, top ramen, pb&j, toast, cookies, and crepes.

last night i could have killed someone (a cow) for some meat and had to settle with pepperoni slices and oscar mayer cheese dogs. you read that right, cheese dogs. those hot dogs that are made out of mechanically separated animals and injected with some kind of "cheese" goo.

don't feel too bad for me though - i have a steak coming my way on april 22nd. just two months and five days.

though i would be willing to let you take pity on me and buy me a steak sooner than two months and five days.

i need your opinion.

i am considerring cutting my hair and cutting it short. i cannot make up my mind. do i grow it out so it is long and luscious, keep it the way it is, or chop it all off? these are the styles that i like...

so...what's the verdict? i need everyone to leave a comment and vote on what they think would look best on me. i think the katie holmes and selma blair styles are a little safe and i think the audrey hepburn and twiggy styles are just precious but i'm kind of scared to cut all my hair off. or do i just be boring and grow it out? i can't make this decision alone so let me know what you think.

unconditional love.

ladies and gentlemen, i have found mutual love.

i have found something i love with all my heart and that something loves me right back.  i was introduced to this special something a few years ago, and my life has never been the same since. one could say that it literally changed my life.

i know you are dying to know, what is it that has paige so smitten?  oh, it's just the greatest thing to ever happen to her.

dove unconditional chocolate ice cream.  the name does not disappoint.  it is always there when you need it and is always so incredibly satisfying.  it has a layer of ganache that you break through to get to the ice cream.  the ice cream itself is chocolate and has chocolate chunks and chocolate swirls in it.  if that doesn't sound like perfection, i don't know what does.

utah is a little behind on things (and when i say "things" i mean pretty much everything amazing) and didn't get this little piece of heaven until almost a year ago.  in colorado this puppy is not hard to find, just hop on over to your local safeway and you're good to go.  this has not been the case in utah.  unconditional chocolate had a short stint at the 7-11 on university ave. and 500 north in the winter of 2006 and disappeared much too soon.  albertson's also thought it would be a good idea to carry dove ice cream, but in every flavor except unconditional chocolate.  such a travesty.

one night last spring i was on an ice cream run with my roommates at smith's and there it was.  i could not believe my eyes.  i started hyperventilating and proceeded to purchase this little piece of divinity.  on occasion the smith's in provo is out of it and i have to drive all the way up to orem to get it.  have you ever been to the smith's in orem?  around midnight?  slightly terrifying.  i am so passionate about this ice cream, i called ahead to the orem store to make sure they had it and asked if i could put it on hold when i was on my way up there.  sounds a little crazy now doesn't it?

go to smith's, buy it (on sale for $1.99 right now - don't worry i bought 3), and let the life changing begin.  you can thank me later.

definitely obsessed.

last summer my family was up at my grandparents' home for father's day. since the babies aren't all together very often now, i decided to follow them around with my 35 mm and snap away. they are all just too precious.

can i say a little something...

...about the show privileged? has anyone ever watched this precious show? brooke records it every week and saves the episodes for me until i can make it up to her house to watch them, thanks brooke! it is just such a cute show. it is a little refreshing to watch a show with a good moral. we watched 4 episodes last night and i have to say i'm a little sad that i'm caught up because i don't have anymore to watch until a new one comes on. the main character megan, played by joanna garcia, is always styled so cute--head to toe. the premise of the show is that megan moves to palm beach, fl to tutor 2 heiresses. as opposed to most of the shows out there depicting the lives of rich teens (can we say gossip girl?) these girls face problems like how to let a boy know that they like them, someone stealing their tennis bracelet, or doing well on a test. it also shows the importance of family and sisterhood. i just think it is a precious little show and it makes me long for warm weather. it comes on tuesday nights on the cw, check it out!

the middle part.

for the majority of my life i have hated the middle part. you know what i'm talking about, when girls part their hair down the middle, gross right? wrong, or at least lately it is wrong. the main character on privileged played by joanna garcia always has her hair parted down the middle and it always looks so precious.

ummm how do i make my hair look this precious?  when brooke and i watch privileged together, the entire time we just talk about how cute she is and are dumbfounded by her middle part.  i'm guessing it has something to do with face shape?  or having a team of professionals style you everyday?  nearly everyday i try to part my hair in the middle and think it looks retarded and go back to my usual part on the side.  i just don't get it.

in case you don't know who i'm talking about, she's the one in the middle with the shimmery cardigan.

i'm also trying to figure out the perfect bun--any suggestions, frustrations, or complaints?  help me!

"just dance" by lady gaga feat. colby o'donis and akon

so i was driving down university avenue on saturday afternoon, when all of a sudden this jazzy little song came on (good songs on the radio? who knew) and i was instantly in love. i am assuming this is a new song, but it is very possible that it has been around for a few months and everyone is sick of it. the music video is a little...uh...interesting (slash dirty, close your eyes while you listen to it and ignore some of the lyrics). but the beat is really good. enjoy and "just dance, gonna be okay..."

death of a legend

paul newman died on friday of cancer. he was 83 and truly was a legend. not only was he an amazing actor and incredibly good looking, but he was also a philanthropist. look at these pictures and tell me that this is not one of the most beautiful men you have ever seen. that's right, you can't because he is the most beautiful person you have ever seen. he will be missed and i wish that i had been born 50 years earlier so i could have made him fall in love with me.

who doesn't love a bucket of chicken?

on friday night, we decided to go up provo canyon and have a picnic. almost every time my friends and i are trying to decide what to do, i suggest getting a bucket of chicken and going up the canyon and this time we actually did it. there are few things that i love more in this world than sitting on a blanket in the grass and devouring a kfc bucket of chicken. there is just something so precious about having a picnic. glorious.

for some odd reason, brett refused to pose for pictures with us. i don't know why he wouldn't want to take pictures with a bunch of girls making kissing faces, every guy's dream, right?

lindsey thought that she was getting attacked by bugs and made jen scratch her back; apparently jen was really enjoying it.
