run for the hills before they burn

so no one offered to take me to the killers concert last night. not that i'm bitter or anything.

but i still had a great time, even without the killers. i did another very fall thing...bonfire. when we first got there the fire was really tiny and maybe i made a few comments on how lame the bonfire was.

i stand corrected.

"maybe while we wait for people to get marshmallows we should take pictures of ourselves."

"let's take pictures of ourselves from across the fire."

i don't know if you quite got andrew's smolderingness...

i don't know what's scarier...my face or the hugeness of our bonfire.

this bonfire was pretty much amazing. the only thing that could have made it more amazing is if someone would have told me a scary story like i asked them to. repeatedly.

everyone's writing about how much they love it, so i will too.

fall.

my (and apparently everyone else's) favorite season is upon us. why do we all love fall so much? i know a big reason why i love fall is the change in weather and the apparel that goes with it. i also love halloween, changing leaves, blah blah blah. maybe a big part of why we all like it is because it lasts three, maybe four weeks and winter sets in. we always want what we can't have.

i stayed with the milne babies last weekend while brooke and david were out of town (in new york, i am still so jealous). i decided it would be a fun and very fall-ish activity to decorate little pumpkins, so when i picked the babies up from school i told them i had a surprise for them and they loved it. here are some pictures of the preciousness.

these pumpkins are very versatile...
silly faces on one side and scary faces on the other.

i went up yesterday for afton's birthday party and my pumpkin was missing. someone stole my precious little pumpkin. we were all a little disappointed.

p.s. today's forecast on weather.com said "abundant sunshine" that makes me feel pretty good inside. too bad i have a ton of patternmaking homework and can't enjoy this abundant sunshine.

you won't regret it...

so the killers concert is tomorrow night. and much to my dismay, i don't have a ticket and no one has offered to take me. i know you thought you were too late and that you lost your chance to offer to take me, but it's okay people. don't worry, there is still time and there are still some tickets.

come on. just take me to the concert. maybe i'll take you to a concert some time. maybe. please, please, please?

risky business

i just saw this headline of an article on the internet...
"what's more dangerous: is the dryer or washing machine more likely to kill you? biggest life risks."

okay...i didn't realize my laundry room was so dangerous.

my all time favorite denise quote: "i'd rock that cradle real quick."

success

so the staring contest party was a huge success. i'm not gonna lie, i was a little concerned that it would be totally lame. we had a really good turn out and most people participated in and were very enthusiastic about the contest.

the flyer we put on everyone's doors in our apartment complex.

the rules. yes, we are aware that laughing is spelled with an h.

our precious balcony specially decorated for the party.

we had some face accessories for people to wear to try to get their opponent to laugh.

i wasn't lying about the cupcakes. they were delicious.

my favorite face accessory was the mustache.

not only were there cupcakes, but we also had blow pops and laffy taffy.

at one point there were so many people in the apartment that no one could move and people had to stand outside.

our winners.

then andrea and i fell asleep on the couch.

this was literally the greatest night of my life. if you didn't come, you really missed out. we were all so satisfied (and surprised) with the outcome of our party and decided that we are going to have a party every month. next month: speed (the game, not drug) or halloween party.

i wish i could take all the credit for the staring contest idea, but i was inspired by the glorious blog a cup of jo.

back to reality

back to school, back to busy-ness, back to guilt about not doing readings for classes...

byu is back in session and i don't quite know how i feel about it. i like the beginning of the school year because of all the freshness and who doesn't love school supplies shopping? or any kind of shopping for that matter. i was excited for school to start until i actually went to class yesterday...that kind of changed things. i hate that anxiety feeling when your professor (specifically dr. burnham) is going over the syllabus and telling you all the hard things you're going to have to do during the semester. granted i am only taking 3 classes, but i still feel a little anxious.

when i start to dwell on this scary feeling i think about all of the really awesome things about this semester:
-this is my last semester and i am graduating in december
-i have a ton of family in utah now: my little brother nash, cousin jesse, cousin kenzi and her new husband matt, and of course the milnes and thomases up in draper
-i only have three classes which are patternmaking (a little intense, and by a little i mean a lot), a cooking class, and survey of world religions.
-i only have to write one paper all semester
-my apartment is really cute
-i have a sweet job

and the list really could go on and on.

since this is my last semester at byu, i want to do al those byu things that i thought were really lame and have a bunch of school spirit for once. i had intentions of buying an all-sports pass, until i found out that they are $140. i guess i won't care about your sports, byu. i want to go to the homecoming parade, maybe that blue foam thing...i don't know.

my fellow byu people, what are those special byu things that i need to do before i graduate? any suggestions?

more of my precious apartment

call me crazy, but i think this little setup is pretty darn cute.

now if only our landlord would let me paint the wall gray...
