hey! i moved!

okay guys, i get it.  none of you want to be my friend after my last post.  i'm sorry i told you i like a linkin park song.  whatever, it's fine. i don't need you to leave comments on all of my posts in order for me to feel validated or anything.

so... i moved out of my sister's basement and into a different basement!  yeah, i'm like super independent now.  i am very grateful to the milnes for putting me up for a year (yeah, a whole year, can you believe how ridiculous i am?). i mean, was.  how ridiculous i was. because obviously i'm not ridiculous anymore since i've stopped mooching. for the most part.

anyway.  do you want to see my new room?  i'm going to show you right now!  it's kind of adorable...
bed.
wall.  corner.  rug. outdoor chairs. 'p'. antlers. polka dot curtains. (fyi: painting curtains is irritating.)
desk. chair. cutest painting in the world made for me by my favorite person in the world. all around cuteness.
fabric hanging to disguise large amount of crap that you don't need to know about.
beautiful/disgusting/terrifying all at the same time.
freakin walk in closet!!!!

and now some really important details:
fyi: you can't put velcro on a wall without destroying it.
muchas gracias, previous tenant.
who needs bed skirts?!
this is what my desk really looks like!

so there's my room.

pudgey-ness

i know.  you've been waiting on the edge of our seat with all of these pudge questions.

well, i'm just going to make your day and answer all those questions right now.

1. did paige survive her tonsillectomy?
i sure did!  i really started to come around a corner after that post.  i can eat and drink whateva the h i want now and it is glorious.

2. how was her 25th birthday? did she get to spend the day with paul walker?
it was pretty darn good.  my birthday fell on a monday this year and i HATE working on mondays.  i seriously want to die every monday so i was not about to spend my birthday feeling that way.  brooke made me breakfast in bed, i got some awesome presents, went to lunch at cheesecake factory at city creek, shopped, went to spanish fork reservoir, and had costa vida for dinner.  here's photographic evidence:
grayson and me at the cheesecake factory

really the best part is that i got to spend the day with people i love. which unfortunately did not include paul walker.  one day paulie, one day.

3. how is paige's summer going?
i'd say it's going pretty well.  june was a difficult month but july is looking pretty good.  for example, the milnes were out of town this weekend and i had some lovely visitors so i cooked some very delicious summer meals and went to seven peaks salt lake. and parked my car in the garage. hollaaa!

4. is she going to move to california?
ehhhhh that's a tricky one.  i just get distracted by the summers here, they're just so pleasant.  so i have given myself until like august/september to figure out my life.  ask me again in a couple months.

5. does she still live in her sister's basement?
yes. i've just been livin' the dream for almost 11 months! high five!

6. is she looking forward to the summer olympics?
no.

7. has she seen the nordstrom anniversary sale catalog yet?  what does she think?
yes.  i have seen a few items that i am very interested in.  i think i just might have to miss work the day that the sale starts.  priorities people.

you're welcome.

as i lay dying

i got my tonsils out last wednesday (the 6th).  it has just been so much fun!  i get to lay around and have a diet that only consists of liquid foods.  ensure is the best!

apparently when you have parts of your throat cut out of you you can't do anything but lay around for at least 10 days.  i know this sounds excessive, but it's true.  i tried going to work yesterday afternoon (day 9) and it was a bad idea.  i was only there for 2.5 hours and i was in a much worse condition when i left than when i arrived.  it's weird to me that a tonsillectomy puts you out so much.  i am on lortab which is awesome but it kind of makes me high so that kind of limits what i can do.  my throat hurts like a mother anytime i swallow and if i talk too much.  and my voice sounds weird (this better be temporary).  since i can only drink my food and i am not terribly hungry because all i do is lay around, i feel pretty weak and get tired very easily.  i have already lost seven pounds.  i didn't really want to lose any weight but i mean if i have to, can it at least come off of the places where i carry my weight?  like my thighs? it doesn't make sense to me that when i lose weight i lose it in the areas that are already small on me (i.e. chest)  making me look even more disproportioned. but i'm sure i'll just gain it back so it's not that big of a deal.

people told me that getting my tonsils out would be the worst experience of my life.  it has been terrible but i feel like i've been through worse.  my main issue is that it is taking forever to heal and i just want to eat a freakin steak.  i don't feel like that is asking too much.

i am on day 10 today and i hear that is a real turning point for most people... fingers crossed!

now onto the segment i like to call:

thought no. 1:
ladyhawke has a new album that was released a couple weeks ago - anxiety. so far i think i prefer her previous self titled album, it's just a little more upbeat and fun.  but i do really like her new song 'black white & blue.'  you can listen to it here.

thought no. 2:
the one positive about this whole "tonsillectomy thing" is that i haven't worn makeup in 11 days and i can rub my eyes as much as i want!!!

thought no. 3:
downton abbey. i have been watching it and it's pretty good.  i wouldn't say i'm obsessed with it like everyone told me i would be, but maybe they just created too high of expectations?  i just started season two (thank you ashley!) so maybe i'll be singing a different tune in a couple episodes.

thought no. 4:
all i think about is food and all the things i want to eat once i am able to.  i have pinned so many recipes on pinterest this week and it's ridiculous.  i repinned like everything on my friend, jill's food board. she's got some really appetizing things on there.  ps jill, you haven't updated your blog in months and i need something entertaining to read.  please update soon, okay?

thought no. 5:
i am super jealous of all these people that get to go on cool trips.  like jenni and her honeymoon in tahiti.  really jenni?  (just kidding, i hope you had fun! kind of... :))  or all these people that go on studies abroad all across europe or go to places like thailand just for fun.  it's cool guys, i'll just use my PTO laying in my bed and not eating for 10 days.  way more fun than spending three weeks in hawaii.

well ladies and gents, those are pretty much all of the thoughts i have for you right now.  i apparently only have five thoughts.  i hope you're all having as much fun right now as i am!

to the five readers of this blog,

i apologize. i haven't updated in nine days...i think that might be a record for justpudge - let me explain.

you know how i got that job at spark? well, about a week later i got another job offer at a company called ultradent and i work in the ortho division doing customer service type stuff. and the best part is...i have benefits. i get insurance and i'll have a 401k like a real adult. now if i could only figure out what all these things mean.

this past week i had to work both jobs which means that i was working from 9:30 in the morning until at least midnight. it was pretty rough.

but i'm not working at spark anymore and now i am back to a normal schedule like a normal person. thank goodness. i don't think i could have lasted much longer. though i will say that i enjoyed working at spark very much. everyone was so nice, i had a lot of fun getting to know them and will miss hanging out with them every night.

i try to keep this blog pretty light, but i just want to say that the Lord really is aware of us. i know that if you are faithful and keep trying your hardest to what you are supposed to, your prayers will be answered. it just may not happen as quickly as you would like.

halloween happenings

so i decided to be catwoman. i put on the superwoman costume and i looked like a giant nerd, so i thought it would be okay to be a cat for the third time. it was that bad.

apparently my version of catwoman has bell's palsy. watch out.

if you try to buy a pumpkin on halloween you will end up with this reject that no one else wanted.

and the highlight of my halloween night.....

turning alex beazer into an emo boy. at one point lindsey was drawing sad tattoos on his arms, i was doing his makeup and andrea was painting his nails. it was seriously so fun.

he was doing a really good (frighteningly good) job of getting into character and we kept trying to take a picture but then i would start laughing when i was about to take it which would then make him laugh and ruin the picture. but then we finally got this gem...

hide the tissues.

how was your weekend?

mine was pretty good. i didn't do anything spectacularly amazing or out of the ordinary, but i really did enjoy myself quite a bit.

i ate ratatouille for the first time thanks to martha.

i watched this movie and it literally changed my life. watch the montage, watch the whole nine minutes and forty seconds, you won't regret it.

i went to kneaders for breakfast on saturday and ate their gloriously delicious french toast.

i bought a great little sweater for eleven dollars.

i went to the stake hee-haw. my favorite part was the plaid, all the glorious plaid.

i went to this haunted extravaganza. it was so much fun. totally worth the twenty dollars. seriously, i had so much fun. i am such a pansy but i still love october because of all the slightly scary things to do.

tell me. how was your weekend? what was your favorite part?

fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me.

i hate the provo river. and i'm pretty sure it hates me because i haven't heard of anyone else having as much bad luck on that river as i have.

last summer we floated the provo river when stacy came to visit. we had fun, but it was also horrible because we weren't very good at navigating and kept screaming as we ran into every single rock and tree along the way. oh, and when we almost drowned that wasn't very enjoyable either. but we did still have fun, it was like a crazy little adventure. at least that's how i remember it.

i decided it would be a good idea to join lindsey, andrea and the ward to float the provo river yesterday. i had kind of been wanting to do it again and it was going to be free, so i jumped at the opportunity. this was a giant mistake. it has been blazing hot lately but we chose to go on the coldest day of the summer. i knew it would be cold, but i thought maybe that would just add to the adventure. it sure did.

andrea, lindsey and i started down the river in our tubes. we didn't want to get separated, so we held onto each other. the water was pretty darn cold, but we were okay once our body parts started to go numb. then as we are just floating down and minding our own business, this family comes by on a raft and they thought it would be a good idea to throw buckets of glacier water on us. they just laughed and laughed because apparently we didn't look cold enough or wet enough.

it seems that if you hold onto each other's tubes it is more difficult to navigate, but we didn't figure this out until about half way, so we ran into everything and it was quite painful, especially because we were so cold. then we got stuck by this huge branch, so we just thought we could push off it and go on our merry way. ummm, that isn't exactly what happened. andrea got sucked under the branch and her tube capsized. i literally was thinking, "oh my gosh, andrea is going to die." seconds later i get sucked under, then lindsey right after me. as the current dragged me along all of the rocks at the bottom of the river (thank goodness it was shallow, otherwise i most likely would have drowned) i was trying with all my might to hop back onto my tube, and i just couldn't do it for the life of me. i was pretty much terrified at this point and finally was able to get on.

then it came time to get out and walk around the bridges. since i had just gotten drenched from head to toe, i was so cold i could barely use my muscles to lift my tube and get out. with some help i was able to get out and put my flip flops back on and start walking, which is really painful from all the dragging and my big toe was bleeding. a good looking and nice man noticed our uncontrollable shivering and the flatness of our tubes and offered to pump them up for us, which made a huge difference. he was really nice and told us he couldn't believe they let us go out because we could get hypothermia. for reals. we didn't stop shaking the entire time while he was talking to us and pumping up all of our tubes.

we got back in and had learned our lesson, so we didn't connect tubes and ended up doing the last half of the river alone. i don't think i have ever prayed that much in my entire life. i paddled the entire time and kept asking Heavenly Father to help me get down as quickly as possible because i was not having fun, and to help me navigate so i wouldn't get hurt anymore. Heavenly Father answers prayers guys, because i didn't have anymore complications and i got down that river pretty darn fast. it isn't too much fun doing it alone, and it also isn't very fun when little boys sitting on the rock you can't get away from think it is really funny to splash you. i was so annoyed and of course yelled at them as i floated away. "thanks a lot, reeeeeallly appreciate it."

i got to the end and was luckily able to get out without any complication, unlike the first time. some man helped me put up my tube and another guy laughed at me while i was convulsing at the side of the river waiting for lindsey to get out so i could get my towel. we sat in the car with the heat on and i really don't think i stopped shivering until i got home. my arms are chafed from all the paddling and my whole body hurts. i'm slightly bitter.

in summation...if i ever suggest we float the provo river, please refer me back to this post.

*this was really long, so if you made it the whole way, you can have a prize.

pudge thoughts

i don't know how i feel about this.
we are definitely having a party like this one at our apartment when school starts. let the awkwardness begin.

really? 61 times? i don't know if this story is more ridiculous or sad.

have you seen this poster? definitely creepy.

so tony romo broke up with jessica simpson. i am still hoping for her to get back together with nick lachey. they were just so precious together. all i know is that every saturday in high school i watched marathons of the newlyweds on mtv and it was pretty much amazing. and apparently since nick's break up with vanessa manillo he has been rebounding with some girl that looks like jessica. why can't these two just realize they are supposed to be together?

the latest in the life of pudge

i went home to colorado last weekend for nash's graduation. i got to see my babies and spend time with the family. there were some awesome rain and thunderstorms. i loved every second of it.

since i basically live out of my car during the day, i always look at those signs on the side of the road/freeway that have the temperature on them, they are my saving grace since the '98 honda civic dx doesn't give me that information and for some reason i am obsessed with knowing the temperature. question: why would you display the temperature in celsius in america. is it just me that is annoyed by this useless information?

my friend mickelle has some glorious stuff on her blog, check it out.  seriously though, this will blow your mind.

please tell me you have seen hot rod. if you haven't please do. i promise you will not regret it, seriously the funniest movie ever.

so i've kind of gotten into the nba finals and am falling in love with the nuggets. i really hope they can pull it out tonight and i'm pretty sure pau gasol is incredibly unattractive. i would really appreciate it if he didn't get anymore playing time, thanks.

now i'm off to hyrum for grandma coralie's bbq birthday party. have a good weekend!

due to recent events...

...i am moving to california.

making some changes.

so i have been thinking about it for a while and i finally did it. i cut my hair. i have had long hair since my senior year of high school and since i am now a senior in college, i thought it was about time for a change.

before

and drum roll please...

yes, my face is rather awkward in this picture.

and another recent development/change in the life of pudge: i started exercising! sarah and i go to a step kardio fusion class three times a week and i have to admit i kind of love it. the class started in january and i can tell such a difference. i have higher endurance, my abs are as hard as a rock, and when i flex my arms there is a bump! who knew, right? our teacher on saturdays is amazing - my chest and legs are so sore, i can barely move. but i half love the pain because i know it's working. i am pretty sure i am becoming addicted to working out and it is slightly awkward.

i'm a whole new pudge!

the break.

i went home for christmas break and it was fabulous.  it was just so nice to relax and not have a care in the world for a couple weeks, pure bliss.  it was also wonderful to spend some time with my family.

dad wearing my sunglasses.  i think they look pretty good on him.

this is my oldest niece, london.  she turned 8 on december 20th.  i can't believe how old she is, i was literally fighting back tears while she blew out her candles.  my baby's growing up!

our family goes bowling every christmas eve and this year we invited some family friends to join us, the johnsons and bennetts.  this is my sister, eryn, and matt johnson.

mom and me baking sugar cookies.  i look slightly crazy and mom is trying to imitate my pucker face.  and my mom doesn't have two different colored eyes, when i was getting rid of the red eye, it went a little weird.

london and rheagan gave us a flexibility show on christmas eve.  it was pretty entertaining.

when my dad sang "paranoid" by black sabbath, i thought i might pee my pants.  seriously one of the funniest slash greatest things i have ever seen.

after swimming at the rec center, rheagan is such a little lady.  i kept telling her that i wanted her dress because it looked so cute and comfortable and she just kept telling me i couldn't have it.

scarlett just loves her popcorn.

she is one of the silliest babies in the world.  she had us all laughing so hard at dinner one night because she kept tilting her head down and looking up at you.  it's hard to describe, but it was precious and hilarious.  later we were watching hot rod and every time a song came on she just started dancing and wiggling.  so cute.

it was so fun to be at home, but it is also good to be back in provo.  as much as i hate provo, it is starting to become home.  don't you just hate it when that happens?

the dodson wedding

sarah and jason are officially married! the wedding was last saturday (the 11th) at the mount timpanogos (sp?) temple in american fork, ut. i was fortunate enough to be a bridesmaid and be involved in this special day. it really was beautiful, despite the freezing weather. I am so happy i got to be a part of it!

sorry about the closed eyes, but this is the best one i had.

haha, sorry caroline, i couldn't resist. we had a grand time decorating the getaway car.

such a fun day!

bethany jackman was their photographer and i can't wait to see all her amazing photos.

catching up

i have been so busy and lazy (who knew it was possible to be both at the same time?) lately that i haven't updated my blog in a while, so i thought i would write about the happenings this past month.

at the end of august i got to watch my niece and nephew for five days while my sister and her husband went to mexico. we had a great time (aside from a few breakdowns).

painting their prizes for being good during the day.

you can tell he is having the time of his life based off his serious expression.

at the water park in provo, sarah was very nice to come with us and help me watch the kiddies.

grayson's prize one morning for following the sleep rules.

afton and grayson love their brownie mix.

learning about sharks at the aquarium.

we had so much fun, and did a lot. i am sure brooke is cringing at all of the messy faces/bodies.

other happenings...
-school is back in session. is that a good or bad thing?
-all of the boys from my freshman year are back from their missions and at byu.
-i am a senior in college! i cannot believe it.
-i took a fun little trip home to colorado last weekend with brooke and her kids. our whole family was at home and my grandparents too, so we had a nice little reunion.
-i finally saw mamma mia, which was hilarious because it was so ridiculous, very entertaining.
-fall is starting to set in and i am so excited because it is my favorite season.
-i threw a bridal shower for my friend sarah yesterday and it turned out really precious.
-two of my roommates and i drove up to sundance this evening and it was beautiful with all the changing leaves.
-we watched prom night last night and it was so retarded and incredibly predictable, yet i still shrieked, jumped, and covered my face with my blanket.

i am sure other interesting things have happened, but this post is just way too long.
